Dennis Onyeka Frank-Ito is an Associate Professor in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery & Communication Sciences at Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, USA. His research interests include computational modeling of upper respiratory physiology to better understand the effects of airflow dynamics, olfactory function, deposition of inhaled gasses and particle transport on respiratory function. He has active projects funded by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, and the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, both of the United States National Institutes of Health. Dr. Frank-Ito received his Bachelor of Science in Statistics from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria, a Master of Science in Mathematics at Youngstown State University, Ohio, USA and a PhD degree in Mathematics at North Carolina State University. While working on his PhD at North Carolina State University, Dr. Frank-Ito received another master’s degree in operations research at the same university. Upon completion of his PhD, Dr. Frank-Ito did a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He joined the Duke faculty in 2013 and since joining Duke he has mentored 9 residents, 10 medical students and 13 graduate and undergraduate students. Dr. Frank-Ito has published over 75 peer-reviewed articles. When he is not working or spending time with his family, Dr. Frank-Ito is a soccer referee, and he loves to play soccer and tennis.
